Cortijo Caliz is a large farmhouse over 200 years old, beautifully restored into 2 separate cottages, El Mirador (sleeps up to 5) and La Barranca (sleeps 2). Set in 2 acres of private land, with magnificant mountain views of the surrounding Sierra Nevada. Very secluded, with olive, almond and citrus groves, home to numerous birdlife. El Mirador has recently refurbished, this ideal cottage is for 4 persons, and has its own private entrance, patio and landscaped gardens. The large living room has fantastic views of the Sierra Lujar, which leads to the dining room and kitchen. There is a south facing bedroom with twin beds, and the second bedroom has a double bed. We can supply a cot for a baby. There is a large, modern shower room. For the colder months, there are gas and oil heaters. Babysitting service available La Barranca: With it's own private entrance, this is a delightful casita for 2 persons. Relax in the secluded landscaped garden or dine in under the covered patio with incredible views of the Sierra Lujar. Entrance to large lounge/double bedroom. Separate kitchen. Modern shower room. Heating by wood burner for the colder months.

We are situated 1km from the main road, which leads to the mountain villages of the Sierra Nevada. 3km away is the market town of Orgiva. With shops, bars, restaurants, a camp ground with public swimming pool, supermarkets, garages, Post Office, health clinic, dentist and banks with cash point for major credit cards. Small groceries can be delivered to your cottage for your arrival. The English-speaking owners, who haved lived in Spain for over 20 years (and live on site) will give you a warm welcome to Cortijo Caliz. They can advise you on interesting walks, local information and places of interest. 8kms away is the famous old 'spa' town of Lanjaron. You can collect your own water at Public springs, which comes from the snow-capped peaks of the Sierra Nevada. The town offers a variety of water therapies. There are various shops, bars, restaurants and a few hotels. Take a breathtaking drive to nearby PAMPANEIRA, BUBION or CAPILEIRA. Picturesque narrow cobbled streets with bars, restaurants and shops. Treat yourself to local pottery, textiles or mountain-cured hams. Maybe try the local ‘Costa’! The historic city of Granada, last home of the Moors in Europe, is only 50 minutes away by car and contains much of historic, artistic and architectural interest as well as diverse night life and excellent food. Of course no trip to Granada is complete without a visit to the Alhambra Palace and its magnificent gardens.

Getting to this Farmhouse in Orgiva

The nearest airport is Malaga. Directions from the airport - Follow the coast road N340 to Ronda de Malaga, direction Motril/Almeria. Before you get to Motril take the N323 road and head North to Granada. You will be on this road for about 10 minutes, and then take the Velez de Benaduella exit, and head towards Orgiva. This becomes a twisty road around mountainside and care should be taken. Once through a short tunnel, take an immediate left turn to ORGIVA. Proceed through the town to the location of Hotel Mirasol. Located outside is a public telephone. Call Carol, the property owner from here (958 784 386). Carol will meet you at the Hotel, and then escort you back to Cortijo Caliz.
