Casa del Rio is an appealing old cottage backing onto the River Guardiaro in the centre of the small sleepy village of Estacion de Cortes de la Frontera. It has been tastefully renovated whilst retaining it's character. The 2 storey accommodation offers a spacious lounge with an archway leading to the large kitchen /dining room overlooking the river and mountains,forest and valley. This leads to a delightful riverside terrace, with river access,which is ideal for alfresco dining or sunbathing or just chilling out and watching the eagles soar overhead There is also a full bathroom on this floor. Upstairs are 3 double bedrooms, 2 with balconies with river or village views from which you can safely watch the running of the bulls during the August Feria - there is also another seating area and bathroom We live permanently nearby and personally meet our guests - we are available for any help and information you may need during your stay. Estacion de Cortes de la Frontera is a delightful tiny riverside village -a country lovers paradise situated between 2 National Parks in the Ronda mountains. It is surrounded by spectacular views of forests and mountains. It is breathtaking in Spring when the whole area is covered in a myriad of wildflowers - at least 250 varieties have been recorded. The cork oak forests, numerous olive groves and fields of horses, sheep, goats, bulls and black Iberian pigs will entrance you. It is superb walking country. If you want a day on the coast we are 45 minutes from Sabinillas, an unspoilt seaside town , 50 minutes from Estepona with it's splendid promenade and beach restaurants and 1 hour from glitsy Marbella and Puerto Banus!

Our village has several supermarkets,a bakers, a church and 5 bars serving good local food at prices you won't believe. There is also a small hotel serving an international menu. We are ideally situated for walkers,birdwatchers,botanists,fishermen and those who just want to chill. It is a working village where you will see sheep, goats, donkeys and horses being led through the streets and where the friendly locals always greet you with a smile. There are several large swimming pools nearby ( with restaurants) for a nice day out or refreshing dip. The famous mountain railway runs past the village -catch this from the pretty railway station - on the doorstep! The train connects the coast at Algeciras, to Ronda and through to Granada,passing innumerable fairy tale white villages amidst unsurpassed scenery. Take the train to Algeciras and catch the ferry to Africa for an exciting day out or visit Granada to see the fabulous Alhambra Palace, or even ski in the Sierra Nevada. Visit the historic town of Ronda built on a breathtaking precipitous gorge, with it's Arab Baths, ancient mansions and the oldest bullring in Spain -Hemingway's favourite. Or just hop off at any of the little villages and explore. Give the driver a break - leave the car and travel by train - it is a memorable experience! Cortes de la Frontera is 5 kilometres away and has a good selection of bars and restaurants. It has a bullring with running of the bulls during the annual fiesta in August. There are several parks, a splendid old 16th century Church and Town Hall and many ancient village houses waiting to be discovered down the lanes lined with orange trees. The National Parks Information Centre is situated on the village outskirts and there is a large swimming pool open during the season. With a 24 hour health centre, a gym and a daily covered market, Cortes caters for every need.
We are 1 hour 30 minutes from Malaga airport, 1 hour from Gibraltar airport and 1 hour 30 mins minutes from Jerez airport - check Ryanair for super bargains to Jerez from Stansted! Detailed directions will be sent to every holiday enquiry.
