Modern first floor, 2 bedroom apartment; 800 meters from the beautiful and blue flagged La Barrosa beach with its many restaurants and bars. The apartment consists of two bedrooms–both with built-in wardrobes-one with two single beds and one double that leads onto a sunny balcony running the length of the property. The kitchen/living area is open plan, with a sofa bed that pulls out from under the sofa and can be put back out of the way during the day. The kitchen has a gas hob, new washing machine and fridge freezer and is well stocked with utensils; there is a good-sized bathroom, which includes bath/shower and bidet; the hot water boiler is also new and has been awarded a safety certificate by the local council. There is a pool on the complex which is open during peak season, tennis courts and a reserved under cover parking space. Bed linen and bath towels are provided, although we do ask that you bring your own beach towels. This area boasts 19 blue flag beaches and a number of natural parks. The climate is temperate all year round, so it's also the perfect place for sporting activities such as, cycling, golf (there are three courses close-by) sailing, surfing, horse riding, tennis and kite/windsurfing. There are 3 main areas along the 8km long beach, these are Novo Sancti Petri (which has a shopping centre housing banks, supermarket, tourist office, restaurants etc.); La Barrosa itself with it's main street and beach front promenade (both home to many bars and restaurants) and Sancti Petri which has a marina (home to the surf and sailing clubs). Novo Sancti Petri is closest to the complex and the two golf courses, riding school, cycle track and football pitches are all situated here. You can walk to Novo Sancti Petri beach through the pine forest adjacent to the complex (15 mins) or via a pretty street (12 min). The complex is one of the premier residential developments in La Barrosa, situated on the edge of a pinewood with a small selection of shops including a bakery and hairdressers at the top of the road; a pretty park with a small children’s play area is located diagonally opposite the apartment, offering welcome shade on a hot day. As our guest you are eligible for membership of “Club de tenis de la Barrosa”, which is only 100 metres from the grounds, on the other side of the park. There are two large supermarkets five minutes away by car and one smaller shop two minutes away by car in the shopping area by the beach. Or if you prefer to sample the local fresh produce there is a daily food market in Chiclana (Monday to Saturday until 2pm), that is just 10 minutes away by car. There is also a tourist information office in Nova Sancti Petri next to the beach car park, as well as an office in Central Chiclana and Cadiz. The historical city of Cadiz is just 20 minutes by car and there are a number of pretty towns including Jerez home of sherry making all within a 45 minute drive. Whale watching and day trips to Tangier are available from Tarifa which is approx 1 hour away. This is where the Spanish holiday, you will find no ugly high rise towers here, as local planning rules forbid building higher than two stories, thus adding to the overall appeal of the resort. So if you prefer to experience "the real Spain" then this is the place to come.

La Barrosa beach is 800 meters away 2 minutes by car or 10-15 minutes on foot along a pretty street or through the pine forest. The beautiful 8km long beach has many unspoilt sections where you can loose yourself in the sand dunes. It has been awarded a blue flag for it's cleanliness and there are many bars/restaurants located along it's length, where you can take shelter on a hot day or watch the sun go down. There's an excellent selection of restaurants and bars situated along the beach front promenade and along the road between the old fishing village Sancti Petri and the Novo Sancti Petri development. Many of these are open all year round. Sancti Petri (5 mins by car) - is an old, abandoned fishing village located at the northern end of the Playa de la Barrosa. It adjoins the Bahía de Cádiz Natural Park and has a wonderful 2 km beach, which faces a little island of the same name. Here you will find a Fishing Port and Marina; sailing and windsurfing schools, plus the added bonus of a few bars and restaurants. Trips to the island, which is a bird sanctuary are available from the Marina. We recommend relaxing at The Bar Bongo which is located on the beach with lovely views over the estuary and out to sea. At the southern end of La Barrosa beach is Novo Sancti Petri which is closest to the complex. This is a modern resort centred around a 36-hole golf course designed by Ballesteros and which also has a cycling track, football pitch and riding school. The resort of course has an excellent beach and a good commercial centre, which has plenty of Bars, Restaurants, Estate Agents, information office, supermarket, internet pub and shops catering for tourists. However it tends to be quiet out of season, whereas La Barrosa itself is open all year round. There are 19 blue flagged beaches in the Cadiz region in all. There are three small and two large supermarkets two/five minutes away by car, or if you prefer to sample the local fresh produce there is a daily food market in Chiclana (Monday to Saturday until 2pm) - which is just 15 minutes away by car or bus. There is also a tourist information office in Chiclana, situated in Calle la Vega near the river. Chiclana is an old Andalucian city with the narrow streets and courtyards typical of this region of Spain. It has a wide range of shops and services as well as bars, restaurants, markets and sherry bodegas. On Tuesday mornings, a large outdoor market is held by the blue bridge across the river. The best places to park are in the multi-story which is on your right as you head into the centre of town or alternatively drive through the city towards the river and park for free. If you fancy sherry tasting then we recommend Bodegas Velez, Open 9.00-2.00 and 6.00-9.00 Mon- Sat, which also has an excellent adjoining restaurant. Tel. +34 9564 06915. Local Activities around Apartment in La Barrosa, Chiclana, Cadiz

Cadiz (Approx 20 minutes by car) - Is thought to be the oldest city in Europe and is certainly worth a visit. Cadiz is still predominantly an old city with many interesting narrow cobbled stone streets and attractive plazas; some with excellent shops, restaurants and tapas bars. It’s a wonderful city to wander around and lose yourself and if you have time after all the shopping and tapas then try to visit the spectacular 18th century Baroque cathedral. Cadiz has many delightful parks and surprisingly for a city it also has a number of beautiful beaches. The train station is modern with fast links to Seville and Madrid and has a selection of car hire companies based there. Seafood is always on the menu as Cadiz also remains a working sea port. Chiclana (15 mins by car/bus) Is the nearest town in the old Andalucian style, with a wide range of shops and services including an excellent indoor market. For sherry tasting tours visit Jerez (40 mins). It's also worth visiting Vejer de la Frontera (30 mins) a beautiful village set at the top of a steep hill. Cape Trafalgar, Nelson's famous swansong is 20 mins away. You can take whale watching trips from Tarifa (about 55 mins by car from the apartment) or you could book a day trip from Tarifa to Tangiers by hydrofoil, which also includes lunch and an escorted trip of the souks for around 50 euros per person. An aqua park is situated in Santa Maria, about 20 mins by car. There are three golf courses close-by and the nearest (and largest) is the 36 hole Novo Sancti Petri course designed by Ballesteros. There is also a smaller course affiliated to the Melia hotel in Novo Sancti Petri. The area is known for it's watersports and if you fancy riding along the beach or through the pine forest theres a riding school in Novo Sancti Petri too. This is one of the best areas for cycling in Andalusia, as the land is flat and the scenery is fantastic. - Novo Sancti Petri even has a cycle track, plus many of the main roads have separate cycle lanes so you are away from the traffic, just watch out for pedestrians! You can hire bikes from one of the places on La Barrosa promenade, or from Camaleon sports club, close to the Hotel Playa Barrosa in Novo Sancti Petri. They also organise group rides for between 25 and 50 kms. Tel: 956 492 125. For those who like the fast lane, Jerez hosts the Spanish motorcycling grand prix each year, and has also hosted the Spanish F1 Grand prix. Sancti Petri fishing village is certainly worth visiting, here you will find both sailing and windsurfing schools, plus the added bonus of a few bars and restaurants. It has a pretty 2km long beach overlooking Sancti Petri island. The island of Sancti Petri is also a bird sanctuary and you can take trips there from the Sancti Petri Marina. The nearest restaurant is in the Tennis club, or if you take the road to the beach there are a few situated along the main road. Alternatively you can make merry at Novo Sancti Petri. There is a bakery, which also sells some essentials at the top of the road. The nearest supermarket is in the main beach shopping area 2 mins by car. There is also a couple of banks, internet access (in Mailboxes)and many bars and restaurants. Behind these shops is the beach promenade where there are many more bars and restaurants. Both major supermarkets are a 5 minute car ride away.
