The 10 metre x 5 metre private pool reflects the style of the villa and is set amongst the orange, lemon, olive, palm and jacaranda trees. Relaxing by the pool amongst the olive groves with the superb mountain vistas, you will occasionally hear the sound of goats' bells in the distance and see horses trotting past. Available to guests are table-tennis, petanque/boules and a badminton net and racquets. Also available, wi-fi for laptops.

Nestling among the olive groves of Tijola, in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada, the villa Castaño , is a quiet and peaceful retreat. Three kilometres from the market town of Orgiva, the white washed Berber villages, can be found clinging to the southern slopes of Spain’s highest mountain range. These were the last outposts of the Moors after the fall of Granada in the 16th century. Made famous in the early 1900's by Gerald Brennan with his book "South from Granada" and more recently described by Chris Stewart in his best selling book "Driving Over Lemons" and his sequel “Parrot in a Pepper Tree”, this rural area offers peace and tranquillity with easy access to bars, restaurants and supermarkets. Just one hour south of Granada and two hours east of Malaga, with the coast and golf only 35 minutes away and skiing in the winter, just 1 hour 15 minutes, the villa has been designed with the 16th century Alhambra Palace in mind, but with all the luxuries and comforts of the 21st century.

Three kilometres from the market town of Orgiva. Fifteen minutes drive (or a beautiful walk) to Canar, the nearest of the white washed Berber villages. Twenty minutes from the old Spa town of Lanjaron and one hours drive from the beautiful city of Granada, with its Alhambra Palace and old Moorish quarters, sophistcated restaurants, bars and shops. There are many other villages in close proximity to Orgiva. Whilst not being a large town Orgiva is the capital of the Alpujarras and holds a weekly morning market in the town, every Thursday. It has plenty of tapas bars, several restaurants and many small supermarkets. It has two health food shops and a herbalist pharmacy. Enjoying many fiestas throughout the year, this is very much a Spanish town. Walking, riding, mountain biking, tennis, parascending, rock climbing and golf to name but a few of the sporting facilities, available in this area. This area is also of great interest to botanists, photographers, birdwatchers, writers and painters alike.
