Almeria takes its name from its capital city which lies on the southern coast of the province. With long stretches of beaches this is the perfect place to stay in a Spanish holiday villa or holiday apartment to enjoy watersports such as sailing and windsurfing or horse riding and hiking. The Spanish town of Adra has a wonderful fortress and 18th century church and Mojacar, on the eastern edge of the Costa de Almeria, has steep narrow streets showing a Moorish influence.
